Community — Insights

The Insights page (under the Community tab in the sidebar, next to Overview) shows patterns across the entire Echo Trader community — not just your own trading. Where the Overview page compares you to top traders, Insights answers a different question: across everyone on the platform, what actually separates traders who make money from traders who don't?

What you're looking at

Every card is computed from anonymized, aggregated data across all Echo traders — no individual accounts, names, or balances are ever shown. A banner at the top of the page restates this and shows when the data was last updated.

The numbers are refreshed once per day, so the whole community sees the same snapshot until the next refresh.

Nothing on this page is trading advice. The cards surface observed patterns in the population; they are not recommendations about what you should trade.

How to read the cards

Most cards lead with average profit per trade (sometimes called expected value, or EV) — that is, total P&L divided by total trades, so it includes losing trades, not just winners. This is deliberate: a high win rate can still lose money if the losers are large, and this metric captures that.

Colors are consistent across every card:

  • Green — making money (roughly +$10 / trade or better)
  • Amber — near break-even
  • Red — losing money

Where a card compares two groups, they're usually the top ~10% and bottom ~10% of accounts by profitability.

Cards only appear once there's enough data behind them. If a card or a cell is blank, that combination hasn't crossed the minimum sample size yet — it will fill in on its own as the community logs more trades. To protect anonymity, raw sample counts are not displayed.

The cards

Profitability by win rate and RR

A 5×5 heatmap crossing win rate (columns) against reward-to-risk ratio (rows). Each cell is colored by average profit per trade for accounts in that combination. It's the clearest single view of why win rate alone doesn't tell you who's profitable — a low win rate with a high RR can be deep green, while a high win rate with a poor RR can be red.

Profitability x RR

Average profit per trade grouped by RR bucket (from under 0.75R up to 2.5R+), with the share of traders making money overlaid. Shows how profitability climbs as the average winner grows relative to the average loser.

Impact of Emotion, Mistake, Market Type, and Setup on Profitability

Average profit per trade on days traders tagged in their journal. Toggle between Emotion, Mistake, Market, and Setup categories, and between Best and Worst to see the most and least profitable tags in each. (For example, "revenge" days tend to be the community's worst emotion days.) This is powered by journal tags, so it grows richer as more traders journal.

A side-by-side table of the most profitable vs. least profitable accounts across the metrics that separate them: profit per trade, profit factor, reward-to-risk ratio, average time in a trade, and trades per week. Green/red chips make the gap on each metric obvious at a glance.

Profitability x Ticker

Average profit per trade by the contract traded, rolled up to the underlying (so NQU6 and NQZ6 both count as NQ, and MNQU6 as MNQ). Micros are kept separate from their full-size counterparts.

Account Churn and Prop Firm ROI

How many prop-firm accounts traders burn through versus how many stay active, split into thirds — plus an estimate of what that churn costs (assuming a typical evaluation price) and the resulting ROI. It's a candid look at how many evaluations don't survive.

Does trading more often help?

Average profit per trade grouped by how many trades per week accounts place, from under 5/week up to 40+/week — so you can see whether trading more actually correlates with making more.

Profitability x Confidence Level

Average profit per trade by the confidence level (1–5) traders logged for the day. Answers whether feeling confident lines up with being profitable.

Profitability x Sticking to the Plan

Two tiles comparing average profit per trade on days traders followed their plan versus days they broke it.

Profitability x Emotions x Markets

A heatmap crossing emotions against market conditions, colored by average profit per trade — surfacing which emotional states are costly in which kinds of markets.

Profitability x Time of Day

Average profit per trade by trade start time (U.S. Eastern), over roughly the last 90 days. The Eastern conversion is daylight-saving aware, so the buckets line up with the U.S. session across the year.

Profitability x Economic News Days

Average profit per trade on major U.S. economic-release days compared to normal trading days. Days are tagged as FOMC (the Fed rate decision), CPI, PPI, or NFP (the monthly jobs report), and everything else counts as a normal day. This is a day-level view — it reflects the whole session, not just the minutes around the release. It's a candid look at whether trading the news actually pays; a day type only appears once enough trading days have accumulated behind it.
