Real-Time Updates

Real-Time Updates Summary

You can find real-time updates in 3 places across the Echo Trader application:

  1. Dashboard - Recent Order Activity
  2. Account Management - Positions
  3. Trade Log - Order Updates

Dashboard - Recent Order Activity

Under Recent Order Activity, if you are connected to Live Updates, your recent order activity will populate in real time. Click refresh at the top of the screen to pull the latest recent order activity if live updates are not connected.

Live Updates

Account Management - Positions

The Account Management tab will show real-time position updates in the "Position" column. The column will read "Flat" if you have no open positions for the account.

For example, if you have 2 contracts that are filled at $25,000 on MNQH6, the Position column will read "2 Long - MNQH6 @ $25,000".

If you have 2 or more positions filled at the same time, the column will show all positions you have filled for each account until each position goes flat.

This can help you understand in real-time what positions you have open on any connected account at any given point in time. It's a best practice to monitor these real-time updates and take action if you have an unexpected position open.

Trade Log - Order Updates

As long as "Live Updates" is "Connected" at the top of the screen and your connection(s) are actively connected, the trade log table will populate with trades in real-time as they are placed. This can help you see in real-time what trades are working, filled, canceled, etc on any connected account at any given point in time. It's a best practice to monitor these real-time updates and take action if you have any unexpected trades in your trade log.

Real-Time Updates Best Practices and Usage

  1. Use real-time updates to ensure accuracy across all of your accounts, and take action if necessary
  2. If using Echo Trader on a mobile device, you will need to keep your mobile device awake to stay connected
  3. If using Echo Trader on a computer and you keep the app open in a browser for a long period of time (i.e. overnight after closing your laptop), it's best to refresh the browser tab to start a fresh live connection
  4. Real-time updates are only available for accounts where you have an active connection in the Connections tab
  5. Real-time updates are NOT guaranteed. If you don't see an order or position that you expect, the best course of action is to, first, refresh the screen to pull the latest data. If you still don't see what you expect, take manual action from Echo Trader (for example, flatten an account) or from your brokerage.
